Desiring a kitchen that reflected her vibrant personality, the owner of this modern home sought an equally contemporary kitchen design featuring a delightful palette of pastels. Recognising that a bespoke approach was the key to achieving her vision, she turned to Makers to create her dream kitchen.
Makers collaborated closely with the architects to craft a layout that made the most of the newly extended kitchen space. The high ceilings offered an ideal opportunity for a streamlined, floor-to-ceiling design that maximised storage whilst introducing a distinctive feature: a handmade sliding ladder that adds character and function.
In this kitchen, colour takes centre stage. Lizzie Spinks, Head Designer at Makers, designed sleek, minimalist cabinetry to highlight and enhance the palette without competing with it. “We were fortunate to work with a client who brought a refreshingly bold and playful approach to both colour and design,” says Lizzie. “She had a clear vision for the palette, and our role was to help refine the options so they worked beautifully together. When a client comes to us with such a focused brief, the design process is a pleasure.”
The sleek, handleless cabinetry is painted in Mylands Golden Square, a delightfully sunny yellow, which is complemented by soft hues of pistachio and blush pink. The open overhead shelving adds a contemporary edge, whilst the bronze hardware brings warmth and texture to the colourful space.
To maintain the contemporary, minimalist aesthetic, a Bora Pure cooktop and extractor was selected, along with other minimalist, luxury appliances. The worktops and splashbacks are crafted from creamy white quartz, accentuated by striking concrete columns that add an architectural touch.
A bespoke dining area was designed to serve as the social heart of the kitchen, featuring a built-in bench and an oval oak table with a distinctive ribbed pedestal and bold green base, both crafted by Makers. The bench, upholstered in a playful floral fabric, adds an additional burst of personality to the room whilst offering practical storage space beneath.
