The owners of a large, outdated country house undertook a complete refurbishment to modernise their home. They sought the help of Amica Studios, a London-based interior design studio, to transform it into a forever home that perfectly reflected their style and passions.
The brief was simple: classic eclectic with clever yet subtle use of colour and pattern. The guest cloakroom was the perfect place to lean into the brief, and Estelle Tomlin, Co-Founder of Amica Studio, wanted to create a joyful and interesting space. “The powder room is always a space where you can inject a little more fun and personality for your guests,” she says. “But we also wanted to add personal touches - the shell wall lights represent the family’s holiday home abroad, which they love dearly.”
A standout feature in the room is the Angelica basin from London Basin Company, which creates a beautiful focal point that draws the eye upon entering the room. The elegant design, with a subtle petal groove shape, stands out against the dark blue colour scheme and adds a serene quality to the bathroom. A gold rim perfectly matches the gold accessories and adds a luxurious touch.
“We love the way the basin fits perfectly into the subtle theme of the space; the scalloped wall lights and the basin’s gold scalloped rim pull the design scheme together, adding a real dash of charm to the space,” says Estelle. “Normally we try to hide plain or unattractive sanitaryware, but that’s not the case with London Basin Company. Their basins add personality to a space which you would usually rely on the wallpaper or lighting to do. They have really captured the market for bringing beauty to the bathroom.”
