Bespoke Back Kitchens from DesignSpace London

With more people entertaining at home than ever before, multipurpose ancillary areas have become increasingly popular for interiors, particularly when it comes to kitchens. For keen chefs and home cooks, the ultimate luxury is to have a purpose-designed back kitchen where ingredients can be prepped out of sight, food can be cooked and plated ahead of serving, and used plates and dishes can be removed out of sight after use.

Back kitchens are also perfect for storing less frequently used china and glassware and to house back-up appliances such as an extra dishwasher, fridge and freezer.

DesignSpace London are frequently asked to design bespoke back kitchens, designed to keep their sleek Italian kitchen/dining areas clean and clutter-free.

Galley Back Kitchen (main image):
This back kitchen was part of a project designed for a passionate art collector. Ultra sleek and sophisticated, the main kitchen was designed to be as much of a gallery space as a place for cooking and eating. To this end, DesignSpace London created a galley-style back kitchen, helping to keep the main entertaining space feeling unobstructed, spacious and airy.

Light Mink Back Kitchen:
The final element of this new build extension in Surrey was the back kitchen/utility room adjacent to the main kitchen. This multi-purpose room was designed to allow the owners to cook freely out of sight, without creating clutter in the main kitchen, whilst entertaining family and friends. It also houses a washer and a dryer, hanging space for air-drying clothes and extra storage space for household items.

Wood Back Kitchen:
As part of this London project, DesignSpace London were also asked to design a bespoke ‘spice’ kitchen (shown left). A simple, practical space, it acts as a back-up when the family are entertaining on a large scale, ensuring messier tasks can be carried out without disturbing their guests.
Providing a cohesive visual link with the main kitchen, the design also features a mix of wood, metal and quartz.
