Founded in 2017, Jo Deakin is a boutique homeware company that produces beautiful, handcrafted fine bone china tableware, designed to bring a sense of style, sophistication, and relaxation to the home.
Founder Jo Deakin first conceived of the idea when a friend mentioned that she couldn’t find high quality, stylish cups and saucers to add to her wedding gift list. Having worked as an interior designer for many years, Jo has an affinity with colour, pattern and design that has enabled her to develop Jo Deakin’s contemporary look and style.
A VERY BRITISH BRAND
At its heart, Jo Deakin is a quintessentially British brand; each item is handmade by local craftsmen in Stoke-on-Trent and designed to allow people to luxuriate in the great British pastime of tea drinking. The process begins at Jo’s Worcestershire home studio with hand drawn sketches and experimental colour combinations. These designs are then sent to the artisans at Stoke, transferred as printable designs onto fine bone china, which is made and fired onsite. Final decorative flourishes are finished by hand, making each item unique.
THE RANGE
The complete Jo Deakin range is available online and is comprised of eight collections, offering mugs, cups, saucers, teaplates, teapots and egg cups in various styles and in multiple colourways. With over 100 pieces in total, the range has been thoughtfully conceived and coordinated so that colours and patterns can be mixed and matched to suit individual style and taste. Jo says: “I created the bold and contemporary Jo Deakin collection because I want style, quality and choice to be on offer every time you go to your cupboard.” Alongside the core collection, Jo also works with clients to create entirely bespoke designs. 2022 sees new launches to the Jo Deakin offering, including a large dinner plate, side plate, sugar bowl and milk jug.
The Collections
Ebb: Sleek and modern, the Ebb collection is characterised by fine, brightly coloured lines which intersect to create statement patterns.
Ripple: Featuring a pretty, scallop inspired motif, the Ripple collection is very much on-trend, bringing a soft decorative twist to tableware.
Wave: Fun and dynamic, the Wave collection features bold zig-zag lines in vibrant colours, perfect for adding a touch of drama and excitement to tea-time.
Burst: Inspired by the dramatic rays that radiate from the sun, the Burst collection is joyful and exuberant; a true reflection of Jo Deakin’s signature style.
Gatsby: Inspired by the decorative geometric forms and shapes of the Art Deco era, the Gatsby collection combines quality English craftmanship with contemporary styles and colours, bringing a touch of glamour to tableware.
Zighy: Capturing the beauty of the mountainous landscape and expansive skyline of Oman’s Zighy bay, this collection celebrates Jo Deakin’s love of geometric prints and shapes.
Zighy II: Following on from the success of the Zighy collection, Jo Deakin has launched Zighy II. This collection features the same striking pattern as the original range, but in a rich teal and blush pink colourway.
Peacock: This collection captures the flamboyance, majesty and ornate beauty of the Peacock, replicating their distinct patterned plumes and embodying the symbolic connotations associated with this most magnificent of birds.
