Francesca's Paints: Celebrating 25 Years of a Life in Colour

Founded in 1996 by passionate colourist Francesca Wezel, Francesca’s Paints was one of the very first to offer sustainable paints in the UK. 2021 marks 25 years of the original eco paint company and celebrates a life in colour.
Having discovered her love for colour and paint making whilst working for traditional paint makers Porter’s Paints in Sydney, Australia, founder Francesca Wezel began travelling the world looking for colours and their origins and exploring global/diverse colouration practices.
After several years training and working as a specialist colourist, Francesca returned to London to launch Francesca’s Paints. The company offers a uniquely handmade approach to colour creation; each tin of paint is hand-mixed using the finest bases from Italy and is coloured in the London studio.
Inspired by travel, nature and art, Francesca’s offering includes 24 paint collections, with a choice of over 200 different colours. Each colour collection paints a vivid picture, from the warm autumnal shades of ‘Indian Summer’ to the earthy colours of ‘Namibian Sands’. Her most recent collections include ‘Poison into Medicine’ and ‘Colours of my Mind’.
The Studio
Francesca’s approach to crafting luxury paint is incredibly hands-on - everything is mixed in the studio and every colour formula is recorded and archived. She also undertakes personalised colour consultations in clients’ homes, selecting the right colours and combinations for each individual setting and offers a bespoke colour mixing service.
The Paints
Environmentalism is at the heart of the company’s practices; many of the paints are plastic free, breathable and free from solvents. A wide range of paints is available from Limewash, Eco Emulsion and Smart Emulsion to Masonry Paint, Oil Eggshell and Gloss. Each colour created is saturated with the highest quality pigments. Suitability of application includes internal and external walls, internal and external woodwork and metal.
