London Showcase for Gainsborough

16 Sep 19

Established in 1903 in Sudbury, Suffolk, where it remains to this day, Gainsborough is a Royal Warrant Holder and one of Britain’s last remaining craft weavers.

Its founder, Reginald Warner laid the foundations of an archive, now one of the UK’s leading textile libraries, and the in-house design team can re-create, re-scale and re-colour from over 7,000 historic references, with a minimum order of just 20 metres. Gainsborough also produces new and bespoke designs for an international Who’s Who of the interiors and fashion industries, from Russell Sage to Saint Laurent.

Partnering their own collections of bespoke curtain poles, finials and accessories,
McKinney & Co’s new showroom will host Gainsborough’s ‘Grand Masters’ collection of historic textile designs used and loved from the 17th Century to the current day; design classics that work for both contemporary and period settings.  Also on show will be examples of exceptional craft weaving techniques from the historic looms in Gainsborough’s Sudbury weaving shed.

The new showroom is at 225 South Dome, Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, London SW10 0XE
