The Delphine basin from London Basin Company was chosen for the master suite in the reimagining of a grand manor house by Oliver Gough, designer and co-founder of the Lake District-based interior design studio Patience & Gough.

Considered, balanced and cohesive were the guiding principles for the project. Located in the heart of the Lake District, the manor had a disjointed layout that required thoughtful reconfiguration and modernisation to better suit family life whilst capturing the client's serene, elegant style.

“The guest suite was designed to feel rich, layered and immersive, with the bedroom and ensuite conceived as a single experience rather than two separate rooms,” says Oliver. “The clients were drawn to a Japanese influence for this suite, and we carried that through in a subtle way using warm walnut tones, antique furniture, blue and green hues, and carefully chosen decorative details.”

Seeking a focal point in the same vein, Oliver sourced the Delphine basin. “When we first saw the Delphine Basin, we instantly fell in love with it. The woad-blue ground, delicate natural detailing and small moments of warmer colour felt completely aligned with the palette and atmosphere we were developing. The cranes and blossom-like pattern had a sense of movement and softness that worked beautifully with the Japanese references within the suite.”
