Martin Moore’s New Deco kitchen collection arrives at the flagship Notting Hill showroom

Inspired by the architects and craftsmen of the 1930s, the New Deco kitchen is the most recent of Martin Moore’s collections, and the first to be wholly designed by Richard Moore. Incredibly versatile, every piece of furniture is custom designed by expert craftsmen, offering limitless design potential and unparalleled quality. With a distinctive ‘classic contemporary’ feel, and featuring clean, geometric lines, it incorporates a wide variety of statement materials, from veneers and metallics to ceramics and porcelains. 

The new Notting Hill display brings together exceptional decorative elements to create a truly unique design. Striking stone worktops are matched with luxurious fabrics and furnishings whilst ribbed glass fronted cabinets and custom satin brass and bronze handles add glamour and flair. Signature features such as the integrated bench seat and table, as well as the large freestanding media cabinet, help set the New Deco apart. 

One of the very first handmade kitchen companies, Martin Moore’s hallmark is classic, timeless, English furniture, designed and made with a quality which transcends fashion. Whether fitted or freestanding, every piece of furniture is custom-designed, and built to order in their Yorkshire workshops.

With its sleek waterfall edge and integrated bench seat and table, the L-shaped island forms the heart of the new space. Exemplifying Martin Moore’s exceptional eye for detail, the worktop is formed from one singular block of granite which was split so that the stone’s striking veining runs along the top of the island, as well as down the waterfall edge. The worktop is bookmatched across the L-shape, achieving even more depth and drama.

Every area within this kitchen has its own wow-factor feature; here, the panel behind the wet zone, as well as the interiors of the glass fronted cabinets, are backed with beautiful faux-marble onyx. Intrinsic backlighting maximises the decorative impact of the material.  

The mantel, a Martin Moore hallmark, is created with simple framing and the inset panel of soft, dreamy Asia Crema natural quartz.  Beneath it, a matching backsplash defines the cook zone. True to form, the New Deco display incorporates state-of-the-art Gaggenau appliances, including the combination gas and induction hob, teppanyaki cooktop and tall wine cooler. 

Hand-painted and hand-embroidered, bespoke ‘Pleasure of Fishes’ wallpaper from Fromental provides the backdrop to Martin Moore’s statement New Deco sideboard. A contemporary take on a classic design, the sideboard sits atop the bespoke New Deco ‘floating’ base and features a sleek walnut finish, metallic cupboard interiors and smoked glass shelves.  Ideal for today’s multi-purpose kitchen/living spaces, the freestanding console can be custom designed to serve the kitchen/dining area as a butler’s sideboard, a drinks station or can be fitted out to provide zone-specific storage wherever needed. The frame of the antiqued mirror hanging above, purposefully echoes the materials used for the sideboard.

Featuring ribbed glass, and signature New Deco handles, a large media unit also offers space for books, glasses, and vases, as well as large ceramicware. Shown here on the New Deco floating base in chrome, the cabinet has a ‘Clubhouse Grey’ interior finish and features a pull-out desk and multipurpose storage drawer. A completely bespoke piece, it can be made in countless material combinations.
