Martin Moore & Lapicida Unveil Kitchen Flooring Collaboration

31 May 23

Marking the beginning of an exciting collaboration, Martin Moore and Lapicida have unveiled an inspiring collection of porcelain floor tiles, perfectly suited to the needs of modern-day kitchens.

Design Director, Richard Moore has carefully curated the range, hand-picking a selection of Lapicida’s wonderful stone, marble and wood-effect porcelains. Leading specialists in their industries, both Martin Moore and Lapicida are committed to bespoke British craftmanship, championing traditional craft processes and artisan skills. With a shared design ethos, the collection developed organically, with a strong focus on offering a multitude of decorative possibilities for the kitchen. To this end, porcelain seemed like the perfect choice as the starting point for the collection.

“I first incorporated a wood-effect porcelain floor when I created the New Deco kitchen. I was intrigued by the way the pale grey wash on the planks transformed the ‘wood’ into a more contemporary option, perfectly complementing the clean, geometric lines of the collection. This inspired me to seek out new decorative porcelain flooring options for our kitchens. Lapicida offer an astounding array of porcelain tiles and I was impressed by their passion, craft and skill, so I knew I wanted to collaborate with them,” says Richard.

Advancing technology and production techniques have transformed porcelain into a statement material which can perfectly replicate the look and feel of a number of unique materials from marble, concrete, metal or limestone - even antique stone or wood. In this way, it can transform kitchen schemes by offering the beauty of natural materials but in a kaleidoscope of colourways and finishes. Lighter and thinner than any of these materials, it is extremely durable and requires no sealing or polishing, making it virtually maintenance free and an obvious choice for heavy traffic areas such as kitchens, utilities and boot rooms.  Also suitable for use outdoors, the same floor can flow from inside to out.

“This collaboration was a natural choice for us; a coming together of two leading British heritage brands that place an emphasis on traditional craftmanship. This collection has been hand-selected to complement the distinct look and feel of Martin Moore’s kitchens. We know that when people choose a Martin Moore kitchen they expect exceptional quality and style, and as one of the leading tile and stone specialists, we know that this porcelain collection offers the highest quality in luxury flooring for the kitchen,” says Jason Cherrington, Director of Lapicida.

The curated collection is brilliantly displayed at Martin Moore’s Esher showroom, where visitors can view the tiles in different roomsets, including a kitchen and a wine room. The showroom also boasts its own stone studio, encompassing four rooms of tiles showcasing a wide range of porcelain and natural stone including the Martin Moore x Lapicida collection.  The perfect space to seek inspiration, sample panels adorn the walls and beautifully laid floors allow visitors to envision the designs within their own homes. Martin Moore’s stone experts are on hand to provide expert advice on choosing the best floor for kitchens, as well as other ancillary rooms.
