Star of the Show - DesignSpace London Kitchen

16 Apr 20

This bespoke Modulnova kitchen by DesignSpace London was designed for the showhouse in a prestigious development by W-One InternationalOn the site of the former BBC radio headquarters, the contemporary three-storey townhouse is situated right in the heart of London’s Marylebone.

To complement the interior design of the project by Sophie Paterson Interiors, the brief was to design a luxurious, yet highly functional kitchen that would stand out within the large, open-plan space.  Appliances were concealed, and tactile, rustic materials and textures were combined with a warm, earthy colour palette. Dark oak cabinetry and bronze aluminium fronts contrast crisply with white Volkas marble on the island, worktops and backsplash, achieving a dramatic, sophisticated look.

Positioned to one side of the central atrium, the kitchen is bathed in natural light.  Typical of Modulnova’s Twenty range, it features solid monolithic forms, handleless cabinetry and pure lines.  Tall pocket doors open to reveal a pair of Gaggenau ovens whilst pull-out drawers conceal capacious storage space.

The island forms the heart of the kitchen, providing prepping space as well as a place for people to gather and socialise.  Acting as a divider between the cooking zone and the dining/living area, it helps to zone the space and direct the flow of traffic around the room.

Designer Richard Atkins, says, “Behind the sleek exterior lies a sophisticated and extremely well-equipped kitchen.  It has a well-planned, highly architectural feel and maintains a seamless, visual continuity with the rest of the space.”
