Drummonds at Decorex International 2018

06 Sep 18

This year, Drummonds celebrate thirty years as specialist bathroom manufacturers. Growing out of an architectural salvage business, the company has reclaimed period British bathroom manufacturing methods and materials; from iron casting and dry-frit enamelling to brassware made using the lost wax process.  Time and labour-intensive, these produce bathroomware with a very particular beauty and authenticity, the hallmark of Drummonds’ products.

Drummonds’ 2018 Decorex stand uses contemporary settings to showcase their splendid designs, underlining a design heritage and classic proportions which take them anywhere from a stately home to the most modern of interiors.

New Products launching Decorex 2018:

The Bestwood Tap & Shower Collection, designed by Martin Brudnizki

Drummonds’ ongoing collaboration with Martin Brudnizki now sees the launch of the Bestwood tap and shower collection.  Cast in solid brass, using the traditional lost-wax process, its shapes reference machinery controls and industrial joinery such as water and gas piping, connecting pieces and traditional plumbing ware.  The result is an edgy, modern collection for basin, baths and showers; all enhanced by Drummonds’ exceptional range of finishes.

New Medway Shower, Double Chessleton Vanity and Avon Bath

The new Medway shower enclosure takes the plan of Drummonds’ famous freestanding showers and translates it into a four-sided enclosure with its shower tray flush to the floor.  A dramatic presence in any bathroom, it is being shown at Decorex with a rich green marble shower tray, enhancing the grandeur of the design.

The Double Chessleton vanity basin brings a contemporary edge to a traditional concept.  The version being shown at Decorex will be handmade in green marble, with a polished metal front and solid metal shelf highlighting its luxurious modernity.
Also new, the Avon bath is a fresh take on Drummonds’ bestselling Humber bath, featuring industrial inspired rivets on the elegantly proportioned skirt.

Also at Decorex: Great Solutions for Smaller Bathrooms

Drummonds’ designs are often built on heroic proportions, echoing the splendid period bathrooms which inspired them.  But many of today’s bathrooms and cloakrooms demand compact solutions, in response to which Drummonds have scaled down some of their best-loved designs.

Being shown for the first time at Decorex, the ‘Tweed’ cast iron bath offers all the pomp and circumstance of its larger cousins, but with a significantly smaller footprint.  Likewise, the wall or surface-mounted ‘Bourne’ vanity basin is the perfect answer to small spaces.  The ‘Locky’ and ‘Double Locky’ are new freestanding vanity basins. Perfectly scaled to bring classic splendour to smaller bathrooms, they bring together three of Drummonds’ craft manufacturing processes: The beautiful Arabescato marble top is supported on elegant legs cast in brass and available in nine finishes from polished brass to nickel and antique bronze.  The undermounted white china basins are handmade from china clay in the traditional way.
