BEAUTIFUL BRIGHTS
NOVEMBER 30TH 2015

Edward Bulmer explains the stories behind four of his natural, pigment rich brights:

Brimstone: “We wanted to offer a bright, clear, yellow - less dependent on yellow ochre and more on chrome yellow: evocative of the fiery tone of sulphur. This colour will brighten up any shaded room and we have seen a similar shade used to stunning effect by the Prince of Wales at Highgrove, on some outdoor seats set against a yew hedge.”

Rose Pink: “Sometimes we just want to be brave and funky - so close your eyes and imagine you are in Jaipur! Rose Pink shows that natural pigments can give wonderful bright hues.”

Invisible Green: “Of course, such a strong colour is hardly invisible but we have taken the 19th century idea of painting ironwork in the landscape to ‘vanish’ it and mixed a beautiful grass green. This is a really striking colour firmly planting the outside in!”

Azurite: “This blue is a real pick-me-up, packed with pigment to give strength and depth, but with earthy warmth. It is a homage to the mineral widely used since the Middle Ages to convey high status.”

NEW BEAM DESK
NOVEMBER 25TH 2015

The original Beam design explores what George calls ‘symbolic friction’ between structural elements; in this case English Sycamore and cast concrete, fitted together like a spine to create a piece which is rich in material texture and architectural presence. The Beam Desk adapts the design with a modular drawer unit which can be placed in any of the six spaces between the wooden ribs.

The drawers, visible from above through the toughened glass top, are lined in silk fabric designed by award winning surface designer Anna Glover, featuring a graphic snake and leaf motif.

The Beam Desk is available in a choice of sustainable British hardwoods including Sycamore, Oak, Ash and Beech and is hand rubbed in Danish oil and natural Beeswax, providing a rich and durable finish.

ART GLASS SHOWERS
NOVEMBER 24TH 2015

Decorative detailing is one of today’s key trends for interiors, with pattern providing essential accents.

New at Alternative Bathrooms, Art Glass showers and shower screens combine decorative focus with pure architectural simplicity. The geometric designs are acid etched onto heavyweight safety glass, adding texture to the strong visual impact. The effect is refined and luxurious, perfect for classic and contemporary bathrooms.

Art Glass comes in two designs; Japan (left) and Quatre Feuille (right), both available to special order across a complete range of shower enclosures, walk in panels and screens.

COLOURFUL BATHROOM STYLE

The Dalby shower is set in a tiled walk-in enclosure, whilst the veined grey marble of the Double Crake vanity basin coordinates beautifully with bespoke encaustic-style cement tiles.

DRUMMONDS LAUNCH BATHROOM DESIGN SERVICE
NOVEMBER 2ND 2015

Luxury bathroom maker Drummonds is launching a Bathroom Design Service, making its space planning expertise available to all customers for the first time.  Offered free of charge, the service is available through Drummonds’ newly relaunched website and from its Notting Hill showroom.

The process begins with customers supplying a simple plan or sketch of their bathroom. Drummonds will then set up a telephone or showroom meeting to discuss the design brief and product options.  Based on this, they will produce up to three different layouts with 3-D perspectives and a full quote.  If the client agrees the design, Drummonds will then order the products and send technical details and installation manuals straight to the bathroom installer.
